Designed as part of our North Salem Farm project, this spa shed sits to the east of the main home and studio/garage, connected by a crushed gravel pathway lined with reclaimed granite pieces. The sculptural spa shed iterates on the gabled typology introduced by the main house and studio/garage but departs from the central buildings in palette. Clad in a lighter, weathered gray cypress rainscreen, the volume contains a hot tub, sauna, and outdoor shower. Reading both solid and porous, the overall mass is carved by portals that facilitate movement and openings that frame views of the tree canopies and sky.

The spa shed is both a folly in the landscape and a functional structure.
