Set within a ridgeline property in Columbia County, New York, this project’s three volumes—a main house, a guest barn, and a pool structure—are organized to celebrate the site’s remarkable landscape and expansive views to both the Taconics and Catskills.

The main house’s gabled structure threads through the landscape, emerging from the woods into a clearing that looks out to the mountains. Inside, the main social space consolidates the kitchen, dining area, and living room into a single lofted room anchored on either side by white oak–clad volumes, each containing a concrete kitchen island and fireplace. On either side of these two extrusions, large expanses of glass highlight unimpeded views of the surrounding mountain ranges. A utilitarian material palette—corrugated zinc and board-formed concrete walls—will weather at different rates, registering the effects of the elements over time.

The austere form creates a social wing and a private wing, each featuring a veranda that extends the interior space into the landscape.
