Worrell Yeung collaborated with Future Expansion and L/AND/A for a competition initiated by the Economic Development Corporation of New York City. The building is comprised of four major programs; retail, an education museum, an office co-working center, and a market hall. WY was responsible for the concept design of the ground floor lobby, rear public garden and market hall. With the market located one floor below street level, access to natural light and outdoor space are achieved by splitting and carving floor levels, as well as deploying two large courtyards. A continuous concrete ribbon wall organizes the market stalls, providing texture to the daylight from the courtyards and gardens.
